This bottling of a blended Mars whisky as an original bottling of the distillery was produced with the name Y.A. #2, the blend contains whisky from the Shinshu and Tsunuki distilleries and was stored in cellars on the island of Yakushima.
Mars Shinshu Distillery was founded in 1985 by Hombo Shuzo Co. Ltd. and was the company's third distillery, although the two previous ones had to be closed down. The current Mars Shinshu Distillery also had to temporarily cease operations between 1992 and 2011.
The whisky from Japan is like its makers. At first glance, reserved, respectful and polite. On closer inspection, however, enormously profound and multi-layered. Japanese whisky is the result of perfected craftsmanship. Many whiskies from Japan carry exotic fruity aromas and a floral bouquet in front of them.
