This bottling is an experimental spirit (distilled from IPA and pale ale beers) which was produced by the Regensburg Whisky & Wine Club as Private Bottling No. 10. The spirit matured in 5 types of refill casks: Bourbon, sherry, beer and Islay whisky with a Grand Arome Rum finish.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
