This bottling of a 20-year-old Talisker single malt as an original bottling of the distillery was produced as a Diageo Special Release 2003. The whisky was distilled in 1982, matured in refill casks and was bottled at cask strength in 12,000 individually numbered bottles in 2003.
The label was stuck on at an angle during production and is damaged on the right-hand side.
The distillery was built on the shores of Loch Harport in 1831 by the brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. The name is derived from the Talisker House estate, which lies a few miles to the west in the mountains. It has had many owners in the past, was partly destroyed in a fire in 1960, rebuilt true to the original in 1962 and now belongs to Diageo.
