This bottling of a White Horse Fine Old Scotch Whisky in a 2-litre handle bottle was produced by White Horse Distillers Ltd. Glasgow and imported to Germany by Söhnlein Rheingold KG Wiesbaden.
White Horse is the name of a blended Scotch whisky and goes back to the White Horse Cellar in Edinburgh and Peter Mackie, who founded his company in 1883. It was not until 1924 (3 years after his death) that the company was renamed White Horse Distillers Ltd. Mackie learned at Lagavulin (and later inherited this distillery), helped to build up Craigellachie, bought Hazelburn and was a fighter for Scotch Whisky in general.
Scotland and Scotch whisky is a global trend, a development that has led to a flourishing whisky scene in Scotland. There is hardly a week that goes by in which there is no news about another new distillery being built or the reopening of a distillery that has been closed for a long time.
Scotland, together with Ireland, is today considered the motherland of whisky, whose roots there go back to around 1500 AD.
