This bottling of a 9-year-old single malt from the Heinrich Habbel Distillery & Distillery was produced in collaboration with the German Mining Museum in Bochum. The whisky was stored underground for 94 months in ex-bourbon casks, finished for 14 months in ex-Recioto casks and bottled in 2019.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
