This bottling is the fourth Signature Edition from St. Kilian. The whisky was distilled in 2016, matured 51% in ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, 49% in ex-Oloroso sherry casks and was bottled in 10,700 bottles in 2020.
The St. Kilian distillery is located in the municipality of Rüdenau and has been producing its single malt whisky there since 2016. The multiple award-winning single malt whisky is distilled according to Scottish tradition and has established an excellent reputation in the whisky world in a short time.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
