This bottling is the eighth Signature Edition from St. Kilian. The whisky was distilled in 2017/2018, matured 43% in ex-Rye casks, 27% in ex-Bourbon casks, 19% in ex-red wine casks, 9% in Palatinate oak casks and 2% in acacia casks and was bottled in 2021 in 8888 bottles.
The St. Kilian distillery is located in the municipality of Rüdenau and has been producing its single malt whisky there since 2016. The multiple award-winning single malt whisky is distilled according to Scottish tradition and has established an excellent reputation in the whisky world in a short time.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
