This bottling of a 5-year-old Münsterland Sinlge Malt J.B.G was produced by the Joh. B. Geuting distillery in Bocholt. The whisky was distilled in 2016, matured in two ex-Oloroso sherry casks and bottled in 2021.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
