This single cask bottling of a Ceridwen single malt from the Lahnsteiner brewery was produced with the original beer wort. The whisky was distilled in 2014, matured in an ex-bourbon cask and was bottled in 2021 with 449 individually numbered bottles.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
