This bottling of a Black Forest single malt was produced by the Rothaus state brewery, with the whisky itself being distilled at the Kammer-Kirsch distillery in 2013. The whisky matured for 2 years in ex-bourbon barrels, received a finish in Lemberger oak barrels and was bottled at cask strength in 2016.

As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business.
