This bottling of a Sylt Single Malt was distilled with barley and water from the island of Sylt at Lantenhammer (Slyrs) in Bavaria. Maturation takes place in small wooden barrels on a ship in the harbour of List on Sylt.
As of 2017, there are already more than 150 distilleries in Germany producing German whisky. Most distilleries produce clear brandies and use whisky production as a niche and side business. Whisky output is at a very low level of sometimes only a few thousand bottles a year depending on the distillery.
