The Nikka distillery is located in the north of Japan in Yoichi on the island of Hokkaido. It was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru after he left the Yamazaki distillery in the same year. Today, Nikka belongs to ASAHI Breweries with the two distilleries Yochi in Hokkaido and Miyagikyo in the north of Honshu, as well as the Ben Nevis Distillery in Scotland.
